Description:

Music and Performing Arts Professions at NYU Steinhardt offers a wealth of courses and special programs for precollege and undergraduate students and young professional performers throughout the summer in the areas of music performance, music theatre, acting, music technology, and music business. Offerings include:

One- to Three-Week Performance Intensives for advanced high school and college student performers:

- String Quartet Workshop (June 27-July 15, 2011)

- Classical Brass Workshop (July 10-15, 2011)

- Broadway Percussion Seminar (June 19-23, 2011)

- Jazz Guitar Intensive (July 18-August 4, 2011)

- Jazz Improvisation Workshop (August 8-19, 2011)

- Spanish Vocal Music Intensive (Summer 2011 dates TBA)

Summer on Broadway: Music Theatre Workshop: a two-week intensive for precollege and college-level performers (July 5-21, 2011)

What Makes a Star: Music Business Summer Institute for high school students. Spend a week in New York City learning from professional star makers in the music business (choose from June 27-July 2 OR July 11-July 15, 2011)

Summer Institute in Music Technology: a two-week workshop for high school students who wish to learn the fundamentals of music technology (July 5-16, 2011)

Looking for Shakespeare: high school students work with a professional director and NYU Steinhardt graduate students to stage an original Shakespeare production (June 29-July 24, 2011)

- Interactive Multimedia Performing Arts Collaborative Technology (IMPACT) workshop: three-week intensive experience through collaborations in dance, music, multimedia, and arts technology (Summer 2011 dates TBA)
